In 1935 a young man named Ken Cox with the help of seven other local young men was
instrumental in the organization of the Faustina Sports Club. Their main objective was to
raise money through dances for charitable purposes. WW II interrupted these activities as
they were called to serve their country.

Under Ken's direction the club was re-organized in 1947, expanding their membership and
dedicating themselves to the promotion of minor hockey in the Lakeshore area.

In 1951 Lakeshore Memorial Arena was built and
the Faustina Sports Club became the first
occupant for minor hockey providing affordable
hockey for young people in the Etobicoke Lakeshore
area. Many original members assisted in laying the
  concrete blocks of the arena.

From 1951 to this day over 25,000 hockey players
have passed through Faustina Minor Hockey.

The Faustina Sports Club has 50 active members and 20 associate members who provide
coaching, training, equipment, ice, officials every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the
hockey season for house league players.

Faustina has had a strong presence in community
affairs donating to several charitable organizations
throughout.

Another of Ken's prized accomplishments was to
organize the Sportsman Night where outstanding
athletes with roots in the South Etobicoke area are
presented with the "Faustina Sportsman Of The Year"
award. Past recipients have included Elfi Shlegel,
Brian Shanahan, Ken Hodge, Mike Pelyk, Brendan Shanahan and more recently Matt Stajan
and Dave Bolland

It has become a long standing tradition at Faustina to host the Annual Carl Gordoneer
Christmas Hockey Tournament. This year will be the 12th year. This a very fun tournament
for all particpants with medals and awards handed out to teams and players.

The 2009/2010 season marks 75 years of Faustina
providing minor hockey in the Etobicoke area.
The year has brought many changes to our
organization including a brand new home at the
  MasterCard Centre for Hockey Excellence.

This season also saw the debut of a brand new logo and name for the Faustina Select
team now known as The Faustina Fury.

Throughout the past 75 years every volunteer member of Faustina has dedicated their
time and effort to provide an enjoyable and fun environment for children who play
minor hockey. This too is a long standing tradition that continues to this day and will
continue for many years to come.
